Don S. Davis: 1942-2008

With great sadness we must announce that the great actor Don S. Davis has past away on June 29th at the age of 65. Don played Major General George Hammond, who was in charge of the SGC for the first seven seasons of SG-1.

This message was released to the public by Don's wife, Ruby Fleming-Davis:

Dear Fans and Friends of Don S. Davis,

So many of you have been touched by not only the work and art of Don S. Davis, but by the man himself, who always took the time to be with you at the appearances he loved, that it is with a tremendous sense of loss I must share with you that Don passed away from a massive heart attack on Sunday morning, June 29th.

On behalf of his family and wife, Ruby, we thank you for your prayers and condolences. A family memorial where Don's ashes will be scattered in the ocean will take place in a few weeks, and should you wish to, please make a donation to the American Heart Association in Don's memory.

European Stargate fans will get to buy the eagerly awaited second Stargate SG-1 movie: Stargate Continuum on the 18th August. The DVD has a suggested sticker price of £19.99, however you can pre-order it now from Amazon for only £14.99.

Stargate Continuum Region 4 Release Date

Aussie fans of Stargate won't have to wait long for the eagerly anticipated Stargate SG-1 movie: Stargate Continuum. Slated for a July 29th release in the US, the Region 4 version of the movie will be hitting Australia's shores on DVD and Blu-ray on the 6th of August, barely a week after it's release in the US. The news came as a welcome surprise to Aussie fans, who had to wait more than a month to see the first DVD movie, Ark of Truth, to arrive.

Stargate: Continuum Cover Art Revealed!

After several different cover art design's for the upcoming Stargate: Continuum, Fox has finally chosen one to their liking. Stargate: Continuum is scheduled to release in North America on the 29th of July, unfortunately, no word on international availability as of yet. Be sure to stay tuned to Pegasus Outpost for further updates.

Stargate: The Ark of Truth Release Date!

According to a new report from TVShowsOnDVD.com, Stargate: The Ark of Truth will be released on March 11, 2008. Unfortunately this date is only official for the United States and Canada release (Region 1). The report also states The DVD will come with a $26.98 USD suggested retail price ($37.98 Canadian). The 97-minute feature will be in widescreen format, with English Dolby 5.1 audio, French and Spanish Dolby Surround audio, and subtitles in English and Spanish. Extras on the DVD have not been revealed, but if it it anything like the Box sets, it is likely to include commentaries and extras. Stay tuned to TPO for more info as it becomes available!

Third Stargate Movie Setback

During Michael Shanks' appearance at the Creation Burbank Convention on the 17th of this month, he informed the audience that unfortunately Brad Wright can't move forward on writing the third SG-1 movie because of the ongoing strike by the Writers Guild of America (WGA). Brad Wright has given his story idea to MGM, but he has to stop there. Although he’s Canadian, due to past writing jobs he is a member of the WGA, so he has to follow the strike. The same is true for Robert C. Cooper. Wright and Cooper may continue their producer duties on Stargate, but they can’t write scripts for the third movie or other projects. The Movie script will either have to be written by someone not a member of the WGA or they will need to wait for the strike to be settled. Read more.
